Student Achievements

The National Honor Society recognizes upperclassmen who have shown academic prowess, as well as strength of character. In order for a student to be considered for NHS membership, a student has to have a combined NHS score of 3.6 or better. The NHS score is calculated by averaging the student's accumulated GPA and the teacher rating score. The teacher rating score is found by averaging the scores provided by teachers for the student. The teachers use a 4.0 rating scale to rate each student on leadership, community service, and citizenship. The student has the opportunity to turn in a form to highlight his/her community service and extracurricular activities, however, this form is not required for invitation for membership. Only teachers who know students, either in class or through extracurricular activities can score a student for his/her NHS membership. Faculty members can access the student forms to assist them in their decision making.

Drivers Education

Students fifteen (15) years old or older, or who will reach their fifteenth (15th) birthday within six (6) months of the course completion, are eligible to enroll in a traffic education program. Students are scheduled by age, with the oldest student having first priority.

The purpose of the program is to introduce students to a course of study which leads to the eventual development of skills appropriate for a licensed driver. The traffic education program is designed to meet the criteria established by the Superintendent of Public Instruction. These criteria include requirements for instructional time, for instructor certification, recommendations for course of study and reimbursement procedures.

Student Handbooks

Student Handbooks outline the policies and procedures pertaining to student activities and responsibilities as set forth by the Board of Trustees of the Butte School District.

All students receive a Student Handbook at the beginning of each school year.
